Founded in 1999 by Phyllis Papa, the ACBT Performing Arts Academy offers educational programs designed to fit the needs of a diverse student population. Our community outreach initiatives encourage appreciation of and participation in the art form. Academy students have gone on to join professional companies in Europe, Asia, South America, and across the United States.
Children's Program
Introduction to ballet fundamentals for young dancers. Creative movement, basic positions, and musicality in a supportive, nurturing environment. Classes held at Boardwalk Hall.
Pre-Professional
Intensive training for serious students preparing for professional careers. Intensive rehearsal schedules, performance opportunities with the company, and guidance from working professionals.
Trainee & Apprentice
Bridge program between student and professional dancer. Trainees and apprentices perform alongside company members in full productions, gaining real-world stage experience.
Community Outreach
Open programs serving the broader Atlantic City community. Classes held at Boardwalk Hall to encourage participation in ballet regardless of background or experience level.
Open Auditions
Nutcracker Auditions
Boys and girls of all ages and levels of dance are welcome to audition for our annual Nutcracker production. Acting roles are available for boys ages 7–12.

The ACBT Performing Arts Academy offers summer intensive programs for dedicated young dancers looking to accelerate their training. Work directly with Atlantic City Ballet professionals and Artistic Director Phyllis Papa in an immersive, focused environment.

Academy Faculty
Academy students train under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Phyllis Papa, whose career spans American Ballet Theatre, Royal Danish Ballet, and Stars of American Ballet. Faculty includes current company members and guest instructors bringing decades of international performance and teaching experience.
